Tina's reaction to the first cut: "I love what you made for me SO MUCH."
The Challenge
Tina Orr runs Moonbeams + Marigolds out of a shared kitchen in Toronto. She bakes cookies, then hand-paints each one like a tiny piece of art. Before this project, her story lived in the product itself. If you tried one of her cookies at a market, you got it right away. If you hadn't, there was no easy way to understand what made her work special.
Before This Project
- Her social media mostly showed finished cookies. It didn't show her process, or her, the person behind them.
- There was no video showing the craft, the painting, or the care in each order.
- Justin met Tina at a College Park pop-up. He tried one of her cookies and knew right away there was a story worth telling.
Her goal: bring in new customers, and build stronger ties with the ones she already had. She wanted people to understand what goes into each order, and why.
The Story We Found
What We Discovered in the Strategy Session
Tina isn't just a baker. She paints her cookies by hand. Early on, she mentioned an idea: filming her painting flowers in watercolour, on paper. That was the moment we knew the real story. This isn't a cookie business. It's an artist who happens to work in an edible medium.
Why This Angle, Not the Obvious One
The easy version of this film is a product showcase. Ingredients, finished cookies, maybe someone tasting one on camera. Instead, we built the film around Tina herself, her process and her voice. The baking shift became the performance. At her request, we filmed the interview first, right at the start of her shift. That way she could speak openly, then move straight into baking without stopping for the camera. The footage stayed real because we didn't interrupt it.
The Narrative Arc of the Film Itself
The film opens on Tina at work, painting and preparing. Then it moves into her own words, why she started, and what she's building. It closes on the finished cookies, and the care behind them. Every order is made on purpose, not just filled.
The Execution
Key Creative Decisions
- We scheduled the interview before the bake began, not partway through. That let Tina speak openly, then fall fully into her process without stopping for the camera.
- We let most of the baking shift run naturally. We filmed the real process, not a staged version of it.
- We chose a warm, instrumental score over something more dramatic. It matched the story's tone, not just how polished it sounded.
- At her request, we added a couple of Tina's own photos of her painted cookies. She got to see her own work reflected in the film.

Immediate Response
Tina's reaction was immediate and strong. After seeing the first cut, she wrote: "I love what you made for me SO MUCH! There are no words... The story has such a feel good vibe." After final delivery, she asked how she could show her appreciation. She offered to leave a Google review, and asked about bringing cookies to the team.
Downstream Impact
The relationship stayed warm well past delivery. Tina is now happy to talk about the experience with other business owners she knows.
